Zimbabwe Evangelism Team

The Zimbabwe Evangelism Team is currently made up of five couples relating to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Team members include: Dr. Mark and Angie Byler, Gregg and Donna Fort, Quinn and Martha Morgan, Duncan and Tatjana Pitts, as well as Barry and Marleen Robinson.

The team works predominantly among the largest people group - the Shona. However, it is seeking ways to evangelize the smaller and lesser reached groups as well: Tonga, Ndebele, Shaangaan and the Asian Community. Currently, our Team's main focus is getting the gospel to the periphery of our country - those peoples who are difficult to access and have had the least opportunity to hear the gospel.
  TEAM MEMBERS
Mark and Angie Byler live at Sanyati with their son Luke. (They are currently on stateside assignment.) Mark is a doctor at the hospital. He also spends a lot of time trying to get equipment repaired and finding sources for medicine and other medical supplies. Angie home schools Luke and leads several Bible Study groups.

Gregg and Donna Fort live in Gweru - in the center of Zimbabwe. Gregg is the team leader and is involved in evangelism and church planting. Donna is involved in discipleship training and serves as the prayer advocate for the team.
Quinn and Martha Morgan live in Bulawayo. They are our "senior" team members and they plan to retire in the next few years. Running the Publishing House - keeping the equipment running - seeing that jobs are completed - is a big job, but Quinn has been doing it for years. We are thankful for this ministry as they provide tracts, gospels of John, hymnbooks, and other discipleship materials. Martha has been involved with outreach among Asian families. Both Quinn and Martha enjoy discipling young men and women in their community.

Duncan and Tatjana Pitts are our newest team members and have set up residence in Bulawayo. Their primary assignment is volunteer coordinators, but they also help with evangelism and other ministries when they are not working with volunteers.
Barry and Marleen Robinson are the Logistics Coordinators for the Zimbabwe Evangelism Team. They live in the capital city of Harare. They are tasked with the assignment of relieving us of some of our stress on a day to day basis. They handle the business things that relate to us personally and do mission business as well. Barry is also involved with church planting in Northern Zimbabwe near the Mozambique border. Marleen teaches music and piano, as well as a Christian based sex education course to grade 7's in several schools in Harare.
K2K - Kingdom to Kingdom Clus
The latest reorganization of the IMB has grouped Lesotho, Northwest South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Western Zambia into the "Kingdom to Kingdom Cluster Group." Daren Davis is our Strategy Leader. Our cluster is part of the Sub-Saharan Africa Affinity Group.

  Baptist Convention
Pastor Josiah Tanyara is the Executive Director of the Baptist Convention of Zimbabwe. He asks for your continued prayers for wisdom and strength to do all that God desires for him to do to lead the churches of Zimbabwe to be on mission with God. He desires to see church growth and multiplication and hopes to instil this vision into each and every church in Zimbabwe.

Pray for Pastor Isaac Mabvumba and wife Esinath. He is our Convention Evangelist and has a deep desire to see all of our churches alive and well! He reports that recently he was at Sanyati where an amazing revival and awakening took place. Pray that the Holy Spirit will enable this to continue to expand to ALL parts of Zimbabwe.
