Western Gauteng Evangelism Team

  The Western Gauteng Evangelism Team
Johannesburg, South Africa

The Holidays - Kurt, Janna Kay, Ruth Anne and Joshuwa

The Lockes - Alan, Beth, Melissa and Benjamin

The Western Gauteng Evangelism Team's purpose is engaging the peoples of Western Gauteng offering them the opportunity to hear the Gospel in a culturally appropriate, understandable context, to respond to Christ and to mature in a doctrinally sound and reproducing New Testament church.
South Africa is divided into 9 provinces. Gauteng (pronounced "how-teng") is the smallest province with the largest population. It includes the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Joburg (as it is referred to) is the most westernized city of the continent of Africa. There are nice roads, malls, high-rise buildings, and many other "modern" conveniences.

Pictured is the rugby stadium in downtown Joburg.

The population of Joburg is somewhere around 9 million people. Joburg is the largest city (including its suburbs and townships) in all of South Africa.

Pictured is the formal settlement of Diepsloot with over 250,000 people living there.
