Copying scripture has brought the word of God to life. I don’t even want to type emails or update this web site. I am having too much fun. However, I have checked on a little church history and there have been those who are as weird and different as I consider myself to be. There were men who had a fascination with manuscripts. They even set aside rooms called scriptoriums where the word of God could be copied. But then things became out of balance somehow.

They began to stress the production of manuscripts instead of the relationship with the God the practice was to deepen. They also stressed the artistic ability of those who copied rather than the beauty of the God the words described. They began to believe the more they copied the more their sins were forgiven, forgetting that the blood of Jesus described in his word had coverered their sins already. I suppose any devotional practice can lopside our theology when we try to impress God with what we are doing, rather than being impressed by what He has already done. May you be inspired by the activity of God around you.
